Nick Cave & The Birthday Party – Amsterdam 1981
The Birthday Party was an Australian band fronted by Nick Cave. Leading the Melbourne post-punk scene with their provocative performances, they made the move to Europe in 1980. Nick Cave quickly made a name for himself with his bellowing vocals and explosive performance style, bouncing around the stage. The Birthday Party is remembered for their harsh pounding rock music laced with guitar feedback and often ironic lyrics. Here they take over an abandoned church in Amsterdam. A perfect setting since Cave used Old Testament imagery with lyrics about sin, debauchery and damnation.

Beastie Boys – Kawasaki 1992
Beastie Boys crashed onto the scene in the 80’s, appealing not only to hiphopfans, but metal heads alike. Originally a hardcore punk band from New York City, Mike D, MCA and Ad-Rock turned to hiphopto create a sound of rap-rock with influences of punk, funk, electro, jazz and Latin music. This is them touring Japan after the release of the double Platinum album “Check Your Head” with them somewhat returning to their punk roots by picking up instruments again. Featuring hit songs “So What’chaWant“ and “Pass The Mic”.

Whitney Houston is considered one of the greatest vocalists of all time and one of the most influential R&B artists in history. Growing up as a gospel singer, her mother was gospel/R&B singer Cissy Houston, and her cousin was Dionne Warwick. Whitney’s voice stood out and it didn’t take long for her to explode as a pop/R&B phenomenon. Houston effortlessly handled big ballads as well as sparkly fresh, dance-pop. Sadlyshe passed in 2012, but her legacy lives on.
