Simon & Garfunkel
This week Cult Legends highlights the ultimate singer-songwriter duo: Simon & Garfunkel.
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel met in 1953 at elementary school in New York in 1953. As teenagers, the duo started performing under the name Tom & Jerry. In 1963 they were signed to a record company and changed their name to Simon & Garfunkel.
What makes this duo so unique is their beautifully crafted harmonies and compelling guitar play, paired with amazing songwriting.
Simon & Garfunkel were one of the best-selling music groups of the 1960’s and their music is still very popular today. Some of their biggest hits include ‘The Sound of Silence’, ‘Mr Robinson’ and ‘Bridge of Trouble Water’.
The Cult Legends collection features two Simon & Garfunkel releases.
The Broadcast Collection 1965 – 1993 is a 5-CD box with all of their greatest hits on it. Earlier this month we released ‘Simon & Garfunkel: Back in the Big Apple 1993’ on vinyl. Which was recorded during a tour for which the duo reunited after they each embarked on successful solo careers.
